History
Franklin Turf was founded in 1991 by Mark and Scottie Phillips. Located in Southampton County, VA the small business expanded to nearly 500 acres of irrigated farm land by 2000. The original scope of business focused on growing Tall Fescue, later expanding inventory to include Tifway 419 Bermudagrass. In 2017, Mark and Scottie’s son, Blake Phillips, returned to Franklin to lead the sod operation. With a bachelor of science in business administration and years of childhood and adult experience working in the turf fields, Blake is excited to continue the legacy of growing a quality product the family is proud to stand behind (or on). Blake brings with him years of experience in managing and constructing premier athletic fields across Virginia in both the private and public sectors. His understanding of green industry needs and trends is current. This knowledge positions him to implement best management and maintenance practices, ultimately resulting in a better-quality product. Established relationships with numerous industry professionals allows Blake to communicate and collaborate with area resources to ensure the needs of his clients are being met.
